|

Holbox (hole-bowsh) is one of the best-kept
secrets of the Northern Caribbean. Located at the eastern tip of the
Yucatan Peninsula between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea, 100
ml/160km from Cancun. The Yucatan Peninsula is home to over 520
different species of birds of which 150 live in Holbox, some of which
include: storks, flamingos, herons, ibis, cormorants, and pelicans. The
exotic village of Holbox currently has a population of 600 and dates
back 100 years - originally it was home to Spanish pirates who founded
the town. Holbox is uncontaminated by mass tourism and the native
Holboxenians wouldn’t have it any other way.
